Women and children usually bear the 40 pound burden of a full jerry can walking miles to the nearest source, wasting precious time that could be spent on education and building the future of their communities. (source)
Throw a big party and invite all of our friends. Bring in a really cool band and serve delicious tube steaks (hot dogs) and ice cold beer, classy wine, and our stand-by Coca-Cola. The entire event will be underwritten by the generous community of EastLake Tri-CIties and other local really cool sponsors so that 100% of all ticket and alcohol sales will go directly towards helping to build biosand filters in Cambodia. It may not be too extravagant - it's probably a t-shirt and jeans event, but it's just another way that we can live simply so that others can simply live.
We'll be working with our local partner, Samaritan's Purse, to help families build their own BioSand filters in Cambodia. We'll also train communities about health, hygiene and sanitation, and how to take care of their filters for years to come. Get an in-depth look at our BioSand filter program in Cambodia.
